FAQ
Q: What is dE?
A: Well, it is a role playing game that is set in post nuclear Earth. It is a game of survival. It is also one very possible future for us all.
Q: Is deadEarth a computer game?
A: No, absolutely not. deadEarth is a traditional paper and dice role playing game. I like playing computer games as much as the next person, but I don't think the technology is there yet to make a truly great online RPG. Some are getting close, like
Ultima Online,
EverQuest, and
Anarchy. However, we do have an online adventure for deadEarth set up called
Survival of the Fittest. SotF is not the deadEarth RPG, but it is based on the deadEarth world.
Q: What do I get when I become a member of the deadEarth site?
A: You gain access to all of the resources of deadEarth housed inside: learn the rules, read the stories, interact with other users, and ask questions of the author. Best of all, you get to join absolutely free!
Q: Speaking of the author, just who is that?
A: JT Smith created deadEarth, and shortly thereafter his Chris Hagness teamed up with JT to get the job done. Everyone who has ever played deadEarth has also added to it in some way.
Q: If you wrote it, then who is The Game Crafter?
A: TGC is a game laboratory that produces innovative games. We do more than just role-playing games. Check out our
web site for more information.
Q: Why did you decide on the post-apocalypse survival genre for deadEarth?
A: Because I didn't think anyone else had done a good job of it. And because I could make the game realistic and survival based in a world where society no longer existed.
Q: What is the GMHB, and where can I get it?
A: GMHB stands for Game Master's Hand Book. For now, unfortunately, it is not available, though it is undergoing revisions and will hopefully be released soon.
Q: Is there any extra material available?
A: At the current time, there are two radiation supplements, a skills supplement, a wilderness encounter supplement, and an equipment supplement. There are currently no maps available. New supplements will be forthcoming, as soon as they are made.
